Clavicular head: Medial half of clavicle; Sternocostal head: Sternum and upper six costal cartilages
Pectoralis major INSERTION
Lateral lip of bicipital groove of humerus
Pectoralis major NERVE SUPPLY
Medial and lateral pectoral nerves from medial and lateral cords of brachial plexus
Pectoralis major ACTION
- Adducts and medially rotates the arm, 2. Flexes arm (clavicular head)

3rd-5th ribs
Pectoralis minor INSERTION
Coracoid process of scapula
Pectoralis minor NERVE SUPPLY
Medial pectoral nerve
Pectoralis minor ACTION
- Depresses scapula; 2. Elevates ribs of origin (if shoulder is fixed) for deep inspiration
Serratus anterior ORIGIN
Upper eight ribs
Serratus anterior INSERTION
Medial border of scapula
Serratus anterior NERVE SUPPLY
Long thoracic nerve
Serratus anterior ACTION
- Rotates scapula- glenoid fossa faces sperlaterally
- Draws scapula forward around thoracic wall (protraction)
- Holds scapula against thoracic wall.
Subclavius ORIGIN
1st costal cartilage
Subclavius INSERTION
Clavicle
Subclavius NERVE SUPPLY
Nerve to subclavius (from upper trunk of brachial plexus)
Subclavius ACTION
Anchors and depresses clavicle during upper limb movements
