Back_muscles_FCs Flashcards
What are 3 layers of the back?
1) Superficial, 2) Intermediate, 3) Deep Layer
What is general action of Superficial Layer of Back?
Move arms
What is general actions of intermediate layer?
they are respiratory muscles
What is the general action of Deep layer back muscles
they move the trunk and back
How are upper arms attached to vertebrae?
Muscle
To which three bones of upper extremity to superficial muscles attach? What is the common function of these bones?
Clavicle, scapula, Humerus allow for freedom of movement of upper extremity
What are the 3 attachment sites of Arm and Body?
1) Scapula–Muscle–Vertebrae 2)clavicle = bony link 3) Scapula + humerus via glenohumorial joint (ball and socket)
What are the landmark attachment points for Scapula?
Superior Angle, Coracoid process, Acromion, Glenoid Fossa, Inerior Angle
What are the muscles of the Superficial Group?
Trapezius, Latissimus Dorsi, Levator Scapulae, Rhmoinds Major and Minor
Which Fascia covers the DEEP Muscles of the Back? What are it’s attachment sites and function?
Thoracolumbar Fascia- attaches medially to spines of vertebrae and inferiorily to ilium; provides attachment sites for muscle
What are the borders of the Triangle of Asculatation?
Medial to scapula, overlies 6th intercostal space; ; Boundaries: inf- Lat. Dorsi, Sup- Trapezius, Lat- Rhomboid major
What is the clinical Significance of the Triangle of Asculation?
Good place to listen w/ stethoscope
What are the muscles of the Intermediate muscle group?
Levatores costarum, serratus posterior superior, serratus posterior
In which direction do ribs move during Inspiration?
Lifting ribs–> expands thorax–> inspiration
What are the muscles of the DEEP Back Muscles?
Splenius, Erector spinae, Transversospinalis
