Explain High Heat Capacity
The ability to absorb and hold high amounts of heat. Ensures homeostasis by preventing sudden changes in temperature.
High heat of vaporization
Sweating. High amounts of heat leave body due to how much heat can be stored. Making it easy to expel excess body heat.
Polar Solvent Properties
Water is a universal solvent necessary to make solutions that allow the body to function. Ions are able to dissociate. Hydration layers that seal large molecules from other large molecules
Reactivity
Hydrolysis - breakdown involving water molecules
Dehydration synthesis - removal of water to join monomers
Polysaccharides
Multiple monomers like starch and glycogen
