Chemical Formulae, Equations and Calculations Flashcards
How do you calculate a mole
1 mole = 6x10to the power of 23
How do you calculate the No. moles
mass(g)/mass of one mole(g/mol)
What must you do when calculating the No. moles
Make all the masses into grams
For e.g. if there’s one mole of H20
Then there are two moles of hydrogen atoms and one mole of oxygen atoms
Lead(II)sulfate
This shows that the lead has a charge of 2+ and that the sulfate has a charge of 2-
The symbols for Lead(II)sulfate would be
PbSO4
Transition Metals
These often form more than one type of ion and we use roman numerals to indicate their charge
What are non-metals classed as on the pH scale
They are all acidic except for hydrogen which is neutral
What are metals classed as on the pH scale
They are all alkaline
