Chemical Change Flashcards
What do Chemical reactions do?
Form new substances from old ones.
What are Atoms in reactants rearranged to make?
They are rearranged to make products:
- Joined atoms may be separated
- Separate atoms may be joined
- Joined atoms may be separated and then joined again in different ways.
What is the problem with these changes?
Usually these changes aren’t easily reversible.
What do Word Equations show?
What happens during a chemical reaction.
What is the different between products and reactants?
The properties of the products are usually different from the properties of the reactants.
What are not lost of produced during a chemical reaction?
Atoms, so there will always be the same number of atoms on each side.
What does it mean if the mass is conserved?
Because in a chemical reaction no atoms are created nor destroyed, the total mass of the products are the same as the total mass of the reactants.
