CHEM Lab- Final Exam Review Flashcards
Do pressure and temperature have a direct or an inverse relationship?
Direct
Do pressure and volume have a direct or an inverse relationship?
Inverse
Do pressure and 1/Volume have a direct or an inverse relationship?
Direct
What is (P1 x V1) / T1 equal to?
(P2 x V2) / T2
Do nonmetal oxides tend to be acidic or basic? (Ex. N2O5, Br2O7)
Acidic
Do metal oxides tend to be acidic or basic? (Ex. Na2O, BaO)
Basic
How can you tell if a compound is amphoteric?
Metalloids like Al, Ga, Sn, tend to be amphoteric. So if you see one of those metals on a compound you can expect it to be amphoteric.
What is a conjugate base?
It is what the acid molecule turns into. So NH4+ on the reactants side will turn into NH3 on the products side. NH3 is the conjugate base.
Study solubility rules.
Study solubility rules fool.
What is Boyle’s Law equation?
P1V1 = P2V2
What is Gay-Lussac’s Law equation?
P1/T1 = P2/T2
What is Charles’ Law equation?
V1/T1 = V2/T2
What is the combined gas law?
(P1V1)/ T1 = (P2V2)/ T2
What is an acid-base reaction?
When an acid and a base react to form water and a salt.
What is a gas formation reaction?
A reaction where a gas is formed from non-gas reactants.
Look for CO2 on your products side! It’s a pretty good indicator.
