What Flows in DA42 are different from the DA40 & what about them are different?
- Originating & Receiving
* Check W&B to see if you will be a heavy or a light for V speed purposes - Preflight
* Sump 4 times
* Check ESP & AP disconnect
* Close Cannopy all the way and check for Nose compartment door annunciation
* Check AC alternator Nacelle
* Check Gear/Fire button for sound & lights - Before Start
* Departure review is different - Start Checklist
* Repeat engine start flow twice
* Master switch is NOT guarded - After sa
What is different about the Originating and Recieving flow?
Compared to the DA40
- Check W&B to see if you will be a heavy or a light for V speed purposes

Compared to the DA40
- Sump 4 times

Departure review
1. Engine trouble prior to Rotation: Reduce power, break & Exit the RWY
2. Engine trouble After Rotatioin w/Gear Dwn & RWY remaining: RAPAFLIVE, Land and exit the RWY, add flaps as needed.
3. Engine trouble After Rotaton w/Gear up OR NO RWY remaining: RAPAFLIVE + IMAPS & return to field.
4. Engine Trouble above 3,000ft AGL w/Gear up: RAPAFLIVE then trouble shoot, or IMAPS (Secure)
Fuel
1. 30 required
2. Fuel quantity indicators are always accurate (if only using main tanks)
What is different about the Start flow?
Compared to the DA40
- Repeat engine start flow twice
- Master switch is NOT guarded
What is different about the After Start flow?
Compared to the DA40
You must check Rudder trim neutral (slightly to the Left)
What is different about the Runup flow?
Compared to the DA40
- Cross feed check for 30 seconds
- Fuel Selectors on
- Two voter switches
- Simultaneous ECU test for LH & RH engine
What is different about the Before T/O To the Line flow?
Compared to the DA40
Flaps remain UP for normal T/O
They are set to APP for a Short Field T/O
What is different about the Before T/O Below the Line flow?
Compared to the DA40
There are two Fuel Pump swithes that need to be turne on
What is different about the After T/O flow?
Compared to the DA40
- Landing Gear UP
- Two Fuel Pumps
What is different about the Descent flow?
Compared to the DA40
- Fuel Selectors ON
- Fuel Transfer as required
- Gear Warning horn check
- Two fuel pumps
What is different about the Landing flow?
Compared to the DA40
- Gear DOWN 3 Green
- No Aux power check
What is different about the Landing flow?
Compared to the DA40

Engine Trouble:
Takeoff Roll
* Power idle
* Brake
* Exit RWY & Notify Tower
After Rotation, Gear down, +RWY
* Power idle & land
After Rotation -3000 AGL, Gear up, -Climb
* RAPAFLIVE + IMAPS (Secure)
* Land 30 degrees either side of the nose
After Rotation -3000 AGL, Gear Up, +Climb
* RAPAFLIVE + IMAPS (Secure)
* Return to field
Above 3000 AGL
* RAPAFLIVE & Troubleshoot
