This is an instant response. For example, crying/running away/screaming

This is when individual experiences physical symptoms (shortness of breath, shaking/trembling, muscle tension etc.)
Effects are reduced, when individual does all they possibly can to prevent contact with feared object
May lead to consequences on daily life

Avoidance

This is when the person chooses to remain in the presence of the feared object as an alternative to avoidance

This is an unpleasant state of high arousal

This is when anxiety and fear becomes disproportionate to the threat posed.

This is when there is an instant and unpleasant response when individuals come in contact with the feared object or think about the phobic stimulus

This is when the individual holds unrealistic and inaccurate perceptions about phobic stimulus (generalised to all circumstances)
