Characteristics of Living Organisms Flashcards
MRS C GREN
movement, respiration, sensitivity, control, growth, reproduction, excretion, nutrition
Aerobic respiration
Glucose + Oxygen -> Carbon dioxide + water
Excretion in animals
Carbon dioxide, water, and urea containing nitrogen which breaks down proteins
Excretion in plants
Carbon dioxide, water, and oxygen (carbon dioxide is excreted at night when the rate of respiration is exceeds the rate of photosynthesis at night) same goes for during the day instead it’s opposite and it’s oxygen that is excreted) (water excreted through transpiration)
Sensitivity
When our body responds to a stimuli depending on its surroundings.
Types of Pathogens
Virus, Bacteria, Fungi, and Protoctists
Pathogenic Bacteria
It doesn’t always affect the host’s cells but can stay in the body. e.g Tuberculosis
