Chapter Seven Flashcards
Objective Test
include True-False, Matching, Multiple Choice, and Completion or Short Answer items
How do you know which item to use on an objective test?
The type of item you use will depend on the objective.
True-False
easy to grade, not easy to write, instruct students on how to answer properly, make definitely true and definitely false, keep statements short, avoid double negatives
Matching
hard to write, descriptions on left and words on right, include more options than descriptions, let students know options can be used more than once.
Multiple-Choice
enable you to measure behavior at a higher level of the taxonomy of educational objectives
avoid grammatical clues, make sure there is only one correct answer, make sure wrong answers are plausible, include three to five options, use none of the above sparingly, avoid using all of the above
Completion Items
easy to write, require a single word answer, be a brief definite statement, omit only key words, blanks near the end instead of the beginning
