A

a federal law passed in 1938 and subsequently amended many times, particularly with regard to the minimum wage. if a hotel or business produces $500K or more in sales for the year, it is covered under the federal law

what is Tip credits?

A

the FLSA allows am employer to take a tip credit of a percentage of the minimum wage. a credit toward the hourly minimum wage rate resulting in a lower cash wage per hour for straight time hours. the credit is equal to the amount of tips actually received; however the law provides that tips cannot be used to reduce the ash amount paid by the employer to less than $2.13 per hour
