what does FMLA provides?

for a period of mandated unpaid employee leave of up to 12 weeks per year for the birth, adoption, or serious illness of a child, or the serious illness of a parent or a spouse

for highly paid “key employees. Employer can deny FMLA for the highest-paid 10% of the employees within 75 miles of the work site.

- substitute any vacation, paid leave for unpaid leave, however the FMLA does not authorize the use of paid family leave for medical leave because the employee has a serious health condition
