Emotions can be seen to do a few things:
A
- motivate our behaviour (& get us ready for action) - consider an urge like ‘fight-or-flight’ when fearful, or how you want to curl up in bed when feeling depressed
- communicate to others how we feel - our facial expressions, tone & body language show the world how we are feeling, which influences how others feel
- communicate to ourselves - gives us important information about a situation
