Chapter 9 Flashcards
Types of drive mechanisms
Water Drive
Solution Gas Drive
Gas Cap Drive
Gravity Drainage
Water Drive
Energy comes from expansion of water or water drive may be a result of artesian flow from an outcrop.
Pressure - Remains high G/O Ratio - Steady Water Production - Increased Well Behaviour - Flow until water pro gets excessive Highest oil recovery.
Solution Gas Drive
Pressure drop forcing gas out of oil. Resulting gas expansion forces oil out.
Pressure - Declines rapidly
G/O Ratio - Rises to max then drops
Pro Rate - Initially high then drops
Water Pro - None
Well behaviour - requires artificial lift
Gas Cap Drive
Oil that has came out of solution has segrgreted and formed a gas cap.
RP - Falls slowly G/O Ratio - Rises continuously PR- First high then declines WP- Absent WB-long life depending on size
Gravity Drainage
Slow process where the natural density of different fluids is responsible for moving.
Secondary Recovery
Water injection and gas injection
Tertiary Recovery
Thermal or Solvent Steam CO Miscible Gas Chemical
