chapter 9 Flashcards
Decision making methods and examples
voting
consensus
authority rule
false concensus
voting
Voting- a majority or 2 thirds support a group decision; voting works best when the group is pressed for time and the issue is not highly controversial
consensus
consensus-all group members agree to support a group decision; listen carefully to others, don’t change mind to avoid conflict or to reach a quick decision, welcome differences of opinion, avoid agreeing to false consensus; get everyone involved, if deadlocked may have to vote, avoid easy ways of reaching decision
authority rule
authority rule- a single person or someone outside the group makes the final decision with or without recommendations from the group
false consensus
False consensus
-its less conflict and easier/ groupthink/ group members don’t really like it but it’s the easiest option
