Friendly relations would allow singapore to make allies who will protect Singapore, deter other countries from attacking

-Committed the five members to consult one another in the event of an armed attack on Singapore or Malaysia
- facilitated regular combined military exercise among five countries
Why would building relations with other countries help to ensure the security of Singapore?
- Other countries would protect Singapore
- Soldiers can train in different terrain conditions, establish relationships with other soldiers
