Lunalilo was the grandnephew of Kamehameha 1 and his grandfather was Kalaʻimamahū, half brother of Kamehameha 1

They were taught to read and write English, religion was emphasized, attended church services, Sunday school, prayer meetings, and evening devotions
Describe Kalākaua’s family and education
Kamehameha had two brothers (James Kaliokalani and William Pitt Leleiōhoku and two sisters (Lydia Kamakaʻeha Liliʻuokalani and Mariam Likelike. His father was Kapaʻakea and his wife Keohokālole. He was hānai to Haʻaheo. They were all also brought up by hānai parents. We went to the Chiefʻs Childrens school starting at 4, and attended school till about 15. First with Cookes, then Royal school which admitted haole or hapa-haole children.
Who was the Hawaiian league and what did they want?
A group of wealthy American businessmen who wanted to overthrow the Hawaiian kingdom.
In what ways did American businessmen become involved in kingdom politics?
They were the same sugar plantation owners that were descendants of the first missionaries to Hawaiʻi and were big supporters of both reciprocity treaties because it supported their own business interest. They were part of the group that conspired to overthrow the Hawaiian kingdom and part of the group that forced Kalākaua to sign the Bayonet Constitution, giving more political power to them than Native Hawaiians.
What was happening in 1892-1893 with Hawaiʻis constitution and Queen Liliʻuokalani?
She was trying to get a new constitution for the Hawaiian people
Who was the Annexation club? What did they want to do? Why did they rename themselves?
The Annexation club had 17 members, politically and economically powerful. They wanted to work for the annexation to the United States. They reorganized as the Committee of Safety to plan to overthrow the Queen and form a new government if Liliʻuokalani tried to revoke the Constituion of 1887.

162 bluejackets landed just below Nuʻuanu Avenue (a few on Merchant St., American Legation at Nuʻuanu, and School St.), but the rest were in a building between the queenʻs soldiers and the Committee of Safetyʻs men.

She yielded to the provisional government but sent a letter of protest

Hui Aloha ʻāina led by Joseph Nāwahi and his wife Emma Nāwahi. Jospeh was elected to legislature in 1872 and voiced his concerns over the changes that took place in the hands of foreigners. Hui Aloha ʻĀina fought for the restoration of the throne, land, and government to the the Hawaiian people. Nāhawai worked alongside activists Robert Wilcox and John Bush. Also Hui Kālaiʻāina.
How were newspapers used in the anti-annexation movement?
They were used to effectively communicate with Native Hawaiian communities and to rouse support for their cause
