Summing a group of related tracks to an aux input track.

What is static automation used for?
To change an effects parameters completely at a point in a song.
What is the difference between the Write commands in the Edit Menu and the Write Commands in the Automation window?
The write commands in the automation window are for recording automation during a record pass.
The write commands in the edit menu can be used while the transport is stopped or during playback.
What does Write To Current do?
Affects the currently displayed automation playlist within the edit selection. Target playlists must be displayed
What does Write To All Enabled do?
Affects all enabled parameters within the current edit selection.
Where can you toggle preview mode?
In the automation window and the bottom.
What is preview mode?
Mixer and plugin automation continues to playback as normal. But as soon as you touch any control, that parameter becomes ‘isolated’ from its automation. The parameter will no longer follow its existing automation until you use one of the Write commands or exit preview mode.

What is the difference between Manual Write to All and Write to All enabled?
Manual write to all does not write breakpoints to all parameters in the selection. Only the ones you’ve touched.

Where is the Punch Preview button?
Down arrow button on the right of the Preview button in the automation window.
What are the two different ways of using punch preview?
- Punch in during playback
- Cue up and punch
Explain punch in during playback.
While in preview mode, you can immediately commence writing isolated parameters as automation.
Allows you to work without setting a precise timeline or edit selection.

Instead of punching in on the fly you can use Punch Preview while the transport is stopped to prime the parameters for automation.

Another volume automation playlist that allows to make changes to the volume without affecting volume automation.
