What is a draw sheet?
sheet that is folded in half and placed over the middle third of the bed and under the patient - used for easier transport
What is a gait belt?
heavy fabric straps that can be used to help a patient stand and walk when placed around their waist
What is a gurney?
a rolling cart used to transfer patients in a recumbent position AKA stretcher
What is orthostatic hypotension?
a mild reduction in the oxygen supply to the brain that occurs with changes in body position (feeling dizzy upon sitting up)
What is sedation?
medication that is given to calm a patient down
What is a slider board?
strong sheet of smooth plastic with handholds cut into the edges - used to ease patient transport
What is a sliding mat?
soft, tubular sheet of flexible plastic that works similarly to a slider board for patient transport
What is a stretcher?
a rolling cart used to transfer patients in a recumbent position AKA gurney
