what is insomnia?
insomnia is characterized as difficulty falling asleep after going to bed or after awakening during the night
what is sleep apnea?
it is the inability to sleep and breath at the same time
what is narcolepsy?
a sleep disorder characterized by periods of irresistible sleep, attacks of cataplexy, sleep paralysis, and hypnagogic
what is a sleep attack?
A symptom of narcolepsy; an irresistible urge to sleep during the day, after which the person awakens feeling refreshed.
what is cataplexy?
During a cataplectic attack a person will sustain varying amounts of muscle weakness. In some cases, the person will become completely paralyzed and slump down to the floor. The person will lie there, fully conscious, for a few seconds to several minutes. What apparently happens is that one of the phenomena of REM sleep—muscular paralysis—occurs at an inappropriate time.
what causes a cataplexy? how is different from a sleep attack?
cataplexy is usually precipitated by strong emotional reactions or by sudden physical effort, especially if the patient is caught unawares. Laughter, anger, or an effort to catch a suddenly thrown object can trigger a cataplectic attack.
what is sleep paralysis?
occurs when lying down, an inability to move just before the onset of sleep or upon waking in the morning
what hypnagogic hallucinations?
dreaming while lying awake and paralyzed, you have experienced this

orexin
what causes narcolepsy in human?
a hereditary autoimmune disorder that causes the immune system to attack orexinergic neurons
