what is the fusiform face area (FFA)?
(FFA) A region of the visual association cortex located in the inferior temporal; involved in the perception of faces.
what is the extra striate body area (EBA)?
A region of the visual association cortex located in the lateral occipitotemporal cortex; involved in the perception of the human body and body parts other than faces. (scrambled silhouettes, or stick drawings of human bodies or body parts)
what is the parahippocampal place area?
A region of the medial temporal cortex; involved in the perception of particular places (“scenes”). (activated by sight of scenes and backgrounds)
what is color constancy?
the relatively constant appearance of the color of objects views under varying lighting conditions
what is cerebral achromatopsia?
“vision without color” a) Inability to discriminate among different hues; caused by damage to area V8 of the visual association cortex.
what is retinal disparity?
The fact that points on objects located at different distances from the observer will fall on slightly different locations on the two retinas; provides the basis for stereopsis. A STIMULUS THAT PRODUCES IMAGES ON SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE EYE
