most common, roll on ground, weighs 40-145 lbs
Backboard
stiff, restrict spine
Power lift
lift with legs instead of back, keep back straight, arms only 15-20 inches extended
Power Grip
palms up
Log Roll
used to place patient onto backboard, rotate patient onto side, slide board under patient
Diamond Carry
one person at head, feet, and each side
Stair Chair
foldable chair that helps roll conscious patient up/down stairs if elevator doesn’t work, can be used as wheelchair
Commands
always said by person holding head, state preparatory command then command of execution
Emergency Moves
drag/pull patient out of dangerous situation alone, grab clothing torso or arms and drag along ground, if in car grab torso and pivot patient out of seat, don’t use if patient has spinal injury
Rapid Extrication Technique
remove sitting patient from vehicle onto backboard, uses cervical collar to stabilize head, pivot and rotate patient onto backboard
Direct Ground Lift
for patients with no spinal injury lying supine, nonurgent, lift patient and carry to stretcher, patient lays across arms of multiple emts
Extremity Lift
for patients with no external injuries in supine or sitting position, nonurgent, one grab torso one grab legs
Direct Carry
transfer by grabbing torso and legs
Draw Sheet Method
transfer patient by wrapping patient in draw sheet and sliding onto second surface
Scoop Stretcher
2 halves inserted under patient and fastened
