Why was the capital moved from Tuscaloosa to Montgomery?
People who lived in the Eastern part of the state wanted the Capital closer to them. The AL legislature voted on it. It took 16 votes before Montgomery was chosen from several cities.

Choctaws signed the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek in 1830. This gave all Choctaw land in MS & AL to the US. Many Choctaws were moved to Oklahoma. The Creeks signed the Treaty of Indian Springs in 1825. It have Creek land in GA & AL to the US. The Creeks were angry & the US president at the time, John Quincy Adams would not honor it.
What is the Trail of Tears?
this is what we call the removal of the Cherokee Indians to Oklahoma. They walked from the eastern US all the way to Oklahoma. They didn’t have enough warm clothes, or food. Many died on the journey. President Andrew Jackson ordered this removal. He might be the most hated of all US Presidents among Native Americans today because of this.
