In 1811, a road was cut where a horse path had been. It was called the Federal Road. You can still see the road in Macon County & other parts of rural Alabama.

When the Indians decided whether to fight with the British against the Americans, they held up sticks. Yes votes for fighting were sticks on fire (red sticks). No votes were plain sticks (white sticks)

Hester. She was wounded, but she got to the river & found a canoe. She rowed to Fort Stoddard & reported the first news. Almost all the settlers were killed. Only 40 of 500 lived.
Who was Samuel Dale?
He was a guide for one of the parties of settlers that went out looking for Red Sticks after the Fort Mims massacre. He & his group found 11 Warriors in a canoe on the Alabama River. His group killed 9 of them. They were considered heroes.
