Chapter 8: Comparing More than two proportions Flashcards
1
Q
What are the properties of a multinomial Experiment?
A
- The experiment consists of n identical trials
- There are k possible outcomes to each trial. These outcomes are sometimes called classes, categories, or cells.
- The probabilities of the k outcomes, (pi1, pi2,…,pik), where sum of all pi = 1, remains the same among trials.
- The trials are independent
- The random variables of interest are the counts n1, n2, n3… , the number of observations in each of the k categories

Q
What is the test statistic for testing multiple proportions?
A
the contingency table
3
Q
Is a X^2 test skewed?
A
yes, it is right skewed
4
Q
Which critical value do we always use for a chi squared test?
A
always use the right tailed test
