Chapter 8 CO2 Versus Efficiency Flashcards
what is combustion efficiency
how well the combustion system or gas burner is converting chemical energy into thermal energy
Function of fuel being burned, the F/A ratio, mixture quality, primary aeration rate, secondary aeration rate, secondary air penetration and time for combustion
if COAF is less than 0.004 then this is 80%
what is heat transfer efficiency
How well the heat is transferred from the hot combustion gasses into the product being heated
Depends on combustion temps, temp difference b/t the hot gasses and product being heated, dwell time of the hot gasses, stack temperature, and transport losses
These are normally lower than combustion efficiencies
What is the overall system thermal efficiency a product of
product of combustion efficiency and heat transfer efficiency
Where do CO2 values peak
When excess air is zero
CO2 increases as aeration rate ______
CO2 increases as aeration rate decreases
Stack efficiency decreases as stack temperature ___
Stack efficiency decreases as stack temperature increases
as percent CO2 increases stack efficiency ____
as percent CO2 increases stack efficiency increases
