Q

How did Napoleons occupation of Spain and the enlightenment affect latin america?

A

Some Latinos embraced the ideas of the Enlightenment. They watched as revolutions spread through the United States and then France, but they were hesitant to embark on their own. When Napoleon put his brother Joseph on the throne of Spain, this was the catalyst. They saw this as a weakening of Spanish power and demanded independence.
