Chapter 8 Flashcards
Cardiorespiratory training program that systematically progresses clients through various stages to achieve optimal levels of physical, say physiologic, and performance adaptation by placing stress on the cardiorespiratory system
Integrated cardiorespiratory training
The ability of the circulatory and respiratory system to supply oxygen-rich blood to the skeletal muscle during sustained physical activity
Cardiorespiratory fitness
Low intensity exercise consisting of moments that do not necessarily relate to the more intense exercise that is to follow
General warm-up
Low intensity exercise consisting agreements that mimic those that will be included in the more intense exercise that is to follow
Specific warm-up
The number of training sessions in a given timeframe
Frequency
The level of demand that is given activity places on the body
Intensity
The highest rate of oxygen transport and utilization achieved at maximum physical exertion
Maximum oxygen consumption (Vo2max)
The difference between resting and maximal or peak oxygen consumption
Oxygen uptake reserve (Vo2R)
Point during grades exercise in which ventilation increases disproportionately to oxygen uptake, signifying a switch from predominately aerobic energy production to it anaerobic energy production
Ventilatory threshold (Tvent)
The length of time and individual is engaged in a given activity
Time
The type or mode of physical activity that an individual is engaged in
Type
The amount of pleasured derived from performing a physical activity
Enjoyment
Excessive frequency, volume, or intensity of training, resulting in fatigue (which is also caused by lack of proper rest and recovery)
Overtraining
