HIV/AIDS
symptoms:
flu-like symptoms at initial infection but most people have no symptoms for years
complications:
destroys immune system
treatment: combo of HAART to slow progression, no cure
Gonorrhea
symptoms:
in men: inflammation of the urethra, thin clear white or yellow discharge from the penis, burning pain on urination
in women: most (and some men) have no symptoms, vaginal discharge, pain on urination in some

Syphilis
symptoms
painless sore with hard raised edge (chancre) in primary stage, a generalized body rash in secondary stage
complications:
progress through several stages that may lead to brain infection and death, infection of the fetus
treatment: cured with antibiotics
Hep B
symptoms:
jaundice, fatigue, loss of appetitive, nausea, many people are asymptomatic
complications: liver disease involving cirrhosis or cancer
treatment:
antiviral drugs for chronic cases, vaccine available, no cure
Trichomoniasis
symptoms:
in men: irritation of the urethra, discharge from penis
in women: abundant white or yellowish vaginal discharge with unpleasant smell
complications: increased risk of HIV infection
in women: pevil inflammatory disease, problems with birth
treatment: cured with antibiotics
