First of state: the top 1% of the population. Around 100,000 people. Kings, Queens, and mobility. Sales crops back to the 3rd estate paid no taxes
Second estate: the next 1% of the population another 100,000. Church leaders and other rich folks. On 20% of the land in France. Pay no taxes
Third estate: the other 97 through 98% of the population. Roughly 25.5 million people. Super poor and paid all the taxes. Grows crops for the first estate
3rd estate had rights and paid half of their income in taxes.
1) Bourgeoisie- wealthy merchants, skilled workers
2) city workers- poorly paid servants like cooks, and attendants
3) Peasants- 80% of pop was farmers

Rise to power – the directory was falling apart. When he returns from war his friends urged him to take over. Surrounded the national legislator and drove out members. He became a dictator.

The accomplishments –set of a good Techsystems with a steady money supply of tax money. Receive the public office jobs because of merit. Sold the Louisiana territory.

The mistakes/fall of Napoleon – Napoleon was defeated by Horatio Nelson and Britain. Napoleon did not get to invade Britain.
