Chapter 7 Flashcards
The knowledge of God’s existence, character, and moral law, which comes through creation to all humanity
General Revelation
Evidence that God exists in creation, that He is the Creator and we are His creation
Natural Revelation
God’s Words addressed to specific people, such as the words of the Bible, the words of the Old Testament prophets and New Testament apostles, and the words of God spoken in personal address. Includes all the words of Scripture but is not limited to the words of Scripture
Special Revelation
What is the necessity of Scripture?
The necessity of Scripture means that the Bible is necessary for knowing the gospel, for maintaining spiritual life, and for knowing God’s will, but it is not necessary for knowing that God exists or for knowing something about God’s character and moral laws.
How necessary is the word?
We need the Bible to know the Gospel, learn and maintain a spiritual life and for knowledge of God’s Will. We can, however, know that God exists and about His characteristics and moral laws without the Bible.
