Chapter 39 Flashcards
Is being filled with the Holy Spirit a one time event? Why or why not?
In Ephesians 5:18, Paul tells the Ephesians to be “filled with the Spirit”. It could be translated “Be continually being filled with the Holy Spirit”, thus implying that this is something that should be happening repeatedly for Christians.
What is the 2 class view that has been taught by Pentecostals? Do you agree? Why or why not?
The Pentecostals teach that there are two types of Christians: Spirit-baptized Christians and Ordinary Christians. I disagree with this. I believe that once you are baptized, you become a part of the family of God. Granted, we are all on different walks and some are farther along than others. Just beginning the Christian journey does not make one less saved than someone who is deep in their walk with God.
Grudem says we are filled with the Holy Spirit at conversion, do you agree or disagree.
I believe that we receive that Holy Spirit at conversion, but I think that for some it is felt and an immediate change occurs, while for others they notice it more as they continue to grow.
Is there a difference in being baptized with the Holy Spirit and being filled with the Holy Spirit?
No, they are just interchangeable phrases.
