Data saturation
The point at which interviews no longer provide a researcher with new relevant information.
Elite interviewing
Interviews involving individuals or groups with access to specialized information.
Field notes
Detailed descriptions of events observed during observation research.
Focus group
A form of qualitative research in which a small group of individuals are asked to discuss a specific product or issue at length and in depth.
Hawthorne effect
A phenomenon that occurs when subjects under observation alter their behaviour because of the researcher’s presence.
Interview framework
A written list of questions that the interviewer intends to ask the respondent.
Observational design
A research design in which researchers have not intervened to randomly assign a treatment but observe an event and analyze the data after the event has taken place.

Observation research in which the subjects are aware that they are being observed.
