What is weathering?
It is the breakdown of rock, usually by the forces of the weather. The broken rock lies where the rock has been broken.
What is erosion?
It is the wearing away of rock, the transportation and the deposition. Erosion is carried out of rivers, glaciers, the sea and the wind.
What is mechanical weathering?
It occurs when rocks are broken apart by physical force applied by frost and plants.
What is freez-thaw action.
It is where the temperature rises and falls below freezing point. When water collects is cracks and then the rock falls to become scree.
What is a karts landscape?
During the ice age, the glaciers cleared away the earths covering which exposed the bare rock
Name the parts of a Karst landscape
Surface rivers, swallow holes, dry valleys, bending planes and joints, abandoned caves, cavern, stalagmite, stalactite, underground rivers
What is denudation?
It is the weathering down of the surface of the earth. It is done by weathering and erosion
