How are earthquakes caused?
Earthquakes are caused when plates collide, slide past each other and separate.
What is an earthquake?
An earthquake is a series of seismic waves.
What is the focus?
The focus is the place in the crust where rock breaks and seismic waves are sent out.
What is the epicentre ?
The epicentre is the place directly above the focus where the most amount of damage is caused.
What are aftershocks?
After shocks are shockwaves after the earthquake
What is the name of the machine used to measure earthquakes?
Seismograph.
What is the name of the scale used to measure earthquakes?
The Richter scale.
What are the effects of earthquakes?
Cracks in the surface can cause gas to be released and catch fire.
Diseases can be spread through dirty water.
Building can be destroyed
What is a tsunami?
A tsunami is an earthquake that occurs under the ocean which sends a high speed wave to shore.
