It was a strategic French stronghold, later renamed for a British statesmen
What was the Proclamation of 1763??
A British document which was to prohibit any settlement beyond the Appalachians, in order to make amends with the Indians. The colonists were very angry about being banned from the land they had just won, so they settled on it anyways.
What was the Albany Congress?
An inter-colonial congress in which 7 of 13 colonies met in Albany, New York. The Albany plan failed because states were reluctant to give up their sovereignty or power, but it was still a first step towards unity.
Who is Samuel De Champlain ??
The “Father of New France”, he established a crucial alliance with the Huron Indians helping them to defeat the neighboring Iroquois tribe
What is the French and Indian war also known as ??
The Seven Years’ War.
What made the 7 years’ war different from the 3 wars before it??
It began on American soil.
How did the French and Indian War (7 years’ war) begin??
Washington and his troops of about 150 minutemen opened fire on the French about 40 miles from fort Duquesne killing their leader. He was later surrounded at his Fort Necessity and forced to surrender, but the war had begun.

France was completely kicked out of N. America. British got Canada and all the land to the Mississippi. France also had to give Louisiana to Spain in order to compensate for Spain’s losses in the war.

A French Empire builder who explored the Mississippi Basin and named it for his monarch. (Founded Louisiana)
