Chapter 6 The Covenant of Creation Flashcards
Covenant and Eschatology
Covenant provides the context & eschatology provides the goal
If Adam had obeyed
If Adam had obeyed God’s command re. the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil, he would have been allowed to eat of the Tree of Life & thus he would have gained immortality
Covenants with Abraham and Moses
The Abrahamic covenant of grace is the broader framework for the salvation of all who have faith in the Messiah
But the Mosaic covenant was specifically for Israel
Concupiscence
is not an actual transgression, but a tendency within human nature as such for sin - lust
Sin is . . .
Ontological and ethical
Pelagianism
is the denial of original sin.
Semi-Pelagianism
says that we have freedom to begin to have faith but that God must give grace to bring our faith to fulfillment in sanctification
Total depravity
refers to our nature under the conditions of original sin that every aspect of our human nature has been corrupted by sin so that there is no ‘unfallen’ part of us
Original Sin
Our collective human estrangement
