Q

We have already learned the formal (ust, ustds) forms of commands. Is the form for familiar (tu) commands the same?

A

No, it is not. The forms between formal and informal commands is different. The main difference is that tu command forms have one form for the affirmative command and another for the negative.

There is also no plural form of a “tu” command, so just use the formal.

Q

Where do object pronouns come in an affirmative command form?

A

All object pronouns are attached to the affirmative form of the imperative.

When a double object pronoun occurs, the indirect object pronoun precedes the direct object pronoun.

When a reflexive pronoun is involved, it precedes the direct object pronoun.

19
Q

Where do object pronouns come in a negative command form?

A

They precede the command.

20
Q

What is the nosotros command form, and how do you form it?

A

The nosotros command form is a way of saying “let’s do something” or “let’s not do something.”

It’s formed by taking the present indicative “yo” form of the verb, dropping the o, and adding:

  • “-emos” for ar verbs
    and
  • “-amos” for er and ir verbs.

Cantemos. Bailemos. Tomemos un cafe.
Let’s sing. Let’s dance. Let’s have coffee.

Salgamos ahora. Abramos el libro.
Let’s leave now. Let’s open the book.
