Aspirin (Low Dose)
Ecotrin; Antiplatelet; In low 81mg dose daily, Aspirin is used as an anticoagulating agent
Mannitol
Osmitrol; Osmotic Diuretic- Used for reducing intracranial pressure- Works on proximal convoluted tubule (PCT)- 1st
Furosemide
Lasix; Loop Diuretic- Used for lowering blood pressure and fluid balance- Works on Loop of Henle- 2nd
Hydrochlorothiazide
Microzide; Thiazide Diuretic- Used for blood pressure, but more modest diuresis- Works at distal convoluted tubule (DCT)- 3rd
HCTZ/Triamterene
Dyazide; Potassium Sparing and Thiazide Diuretic- Used for those with electrolyte imbalance and blood pressure- Works at (DCT)- 3rd
Spironolactone
Aldactone; Potassium Sparing Diuretic- Used for BP and potassium balance- Works on Collecting Duct– Beware may cause gynecomastia- 4th
Potassium Chloride
K-Dur; Electrolyte Replenishment; For K levels when potassium sparing is contraindicated or a loop flushes too much K out.
Doxazosin
Cardura; Alpha-1 Antagonist- Causes vasodilation and reduction in BP
Clonidine
Catapres; Alpha-2 Agonist- Works to engage alpha-2 to reduce peripheral vascular resistance
