Q

How do you physically install a NIC?

A

You install it into the IPCE slot and configure the antenna.
The antenna may be attached or must be manually attached with a cable.
It must be connected and positioned correctly.

18
Q

How do you update an NIC?

A

New drivers may be published, this is what the update will entail.
Disable anti-virus software so that the driver updates correctly.
Update only one driver at a time, otherwise the updates may conflict.
Close all applications that are running so they are not using files associated with the update

19
Q

How do you configure an NIC?

A

Windows is automatically dynamic, so this is not a concern. They automatically send for an IPv4 address from a DHCP server
This is also typical for smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles and other end-user devices.
Static Config is usually the job of a network admin.
Static can still be done however and you should be familiar with how to manually configure the IP address of a device you are being asked to manage.

What is ICMP?

A

Internet Control Message Protocol

21
