What are patch cables?
two to five foot UTP cables.
-uses stranded cabling.
What is a demarc?
-demarcation point; where connections from outside world come into a building.
What is a NIU?
Network interface unit. demarc between home network and ISP.
What is a demarc extension.
cabling that runs from NIU to whatever box is used by customer.
What is a vertical cross connect?
main patch panel in a demarc. cross connect for building.

What does MDF stand for?
main distribution frame
What is a cable drop?
Location where cable comes out of the wall in the workstation.
What is a mounting bracket?
hold the faceplate.
What is attenuation?
signal becomes weaker.
What is dispersion
spreads out over long distance.
What is bonding/link aggregation:
doubles speed between machine and switch
- use identical NICS and switches from same companies
- Link aggregation Control Protocol.
