The American Revolution
The war fought between 1775 and 1783 through which the 13 great colonies threw off British rule to establish the United States of America.
Who were the Loyalists?
The loyalist were colonists in the Thirteen Colonies who remained loyal to the British Crown during the American Revolutionary War.
Who were the Patriots?
A colonist who rejected British rule over the colonies during the American Revolution.
Canadian involvement in the American Revolution
Some Canadians supported the rebels, others, the British. The majority remained neutral.
How did the Loyalists migration affect the development of Quebec?
This boosted the population, led to the creation of Upper Canada and Lower Canada, and heavily influenced the politics and culture of what would become Canada.
Constitutional Act of 1791. What was it?
The Constitutional Act of 1791 split the Province of Quebec into two distinct colonies: Lower Canada in the east and Upper Canada in the west.
