What is the difference between balloon and platform framing?
A
Balloon framing: continuous member from foundation to roof, not used today.
Platform framing: members easier to produce, handle, and erect; the only light frame system used today; nominal 2-inch members, spaced at 16” or 24”, used for floor ceiling joists, wall studs, and roof rafters.
