Q

How Does Kevin Finnan use Music in Captive?

A
  • balance is sometimes achieved as the large instrumentation enhances the attacking action of the dance however ocasionally the dance movement is drowned in the overly rich production quality of the music.
  • style is electronic digitally produced sound resembling an action movie soundtrack which is appropiate for the movement content and aids the narrative as the score lifts and dips into the varried emotions of the dancers in character.
  • intended to be in direct correlation with the music but there is a tendency for the two to become more mutually co-existent when the dance becomes less musical and more acrobatic e.g. the canon swinging across the top of the cage
