What are floor an air patterns?
patterns made by travelling on the floor and gesturing in the air
What are the effects of directions?
forward=assertive authoritative
backwards=retreat defensive
jumping up=lively
falling down= lifeless
sideways=sneaky
What are the three planes?
Sagittal Plane:
divides the body right to left,
movement in plane: travelling backwards and forwards
axis: anterior-posterior back to front
Frontal Plane:
divides the body back to front
movement in plane: rise and fall jumps
axis: vertical up to down
Horizontal Plane:
divides body top from bottom
movement in plane: open and close-spins turns twist from waist
axis: horizontal side to side
What is phrasing?
actions joined together in a simple unity with a beginning middle and end to reate a sense of unity and logic. individual and group timings give a dance its form and clarity because it allows the audience to find a visual sense. breath can be a strong influence in phrase duration
What is dynamic?
when force and time act together dynamics result
force relleases energy through the body there if free or bound flow
