What is chemical digestion?
A
When chemicals in the body react with the food. The chemical reactions change food substances into simpler substances allowing them to be more easily absorbed into the bloodstream. It is usually assisted with enzymes which increase the rate of chemical reactions.

A process occurring mainly in the mouth which involves physically breaking down the food.
