She went to meetings and gave speeches about treating people fairly.

What is a convention?
A large meeting.

Seneca Falls, New York. (This was the first time women gathered in public to demand the right to vote.)
What is suffrage?
The right to vote.

Th Suffrage movement.

The National American Women Suffrage Association.
How long was Susan B. Anthony president of the American Woman Suffrage Movement?
Eight years.
In 1870 what was passed?
The fifteenth amendment which gave African American men the right to vote.
What happened in 1872?
Susan B. Anthony voted in the president also election, she was fined 100$ and was arrested.
When did Susan B. Anthony die?
1906.
What happened in 1920?
The nineteenth amendment became law, woman had won the right to vote.
What did Thurgood Marshall do?
He worked hard for civil rights
What are civil rights?
The rights of all citizens to be treated equally under the law.
Where did Marshall grow up?
Baltimore, Maryland
What does segregated mean?
Separated (usually by race/skin color).
What happened in 1954?
All nine Supreme Court Justices voted to end school segregation.
Why was Linda brown’s case brought up to the Supreme Court?
Because her father wanted her to attend a white school but the school wouldn’t allow it and the African school was far from them and they would have to cross a dangers railroad track to get there.
What was Linda brown’s case called?
Brown versus Board of Education.
What happened in 1967?
Lyndon B. Johnson chose Marshall to be the first African American Supreme Court Justice and he served 24 years.
Who was Eleanor Roosevelt?
The First Lady/wife of Franklin D. Roosevelt (the president).
How long was Franklin D. Roosevelt president?
1933-1945, 12 years.
What happened in 1945?
Eleanor Roosevelt was chosen to be the American delegate of the United States.
While she was the First Lady what did Eleanor Roosevelt do?
She traveled around the world visiting school children, sick people in hospitals, coal miners and even people in jail.
What is a delegate
A person chosen to act for others.
What is the U.N
A world group that works for peace.
What did Eleanor Roosevelt do in the U.N?
She worked for human rights and helped the group write a bill of rights for all people. IT recognized all people in the world having human rights.
What are some Human rights?
The right to be treated equally under the law, the right to own property, and the right to leave their country and return.
