What is a grid on a map
a pattern of lines that form squares. Each row has a letter and each column a number
What kind of features do maps show
old buildings and monuments called landmarks
Relative location is
a description of where a place is located in relation to other places
Absolute location is
exact location of a place identified by latitutde and longitude lines
Earth is divided into 2 parts called
hemispheres (Northern and Southern)
What divides the hemispheres?
line of latitude called the equator
What is a political map?
It has country and state boundaries or borders. It also has major cities and capitals on it
What is a physical map?
You can find mountains, plains, deserts on a physical map. Different colors are used to show different land heights or elevations. You can also find bodies of water such as rivers, lakes and oceans.
Population is
the total number of people who live in a place
What is a population map?
It shows the number of people living in certain areas
