Learner analysis and context analysis cannot be done
In the office.
Define TARGET POPULATION
Learners for any given set of instructions. The ones you want to “hit” with appropriate instruction.
Target population is also known as
Target audience or target group
What are some identifiers of of target population
Age, grade level, topic being studied, job experience or job experience.
The widest range of the users you want to reach
Target population

- Prior Knowledge of Topic Area
- Attitudes toward content and potential delivery system
- Academic motivation
- Educational and ability levels

Seldom is something learned simply for the purpose of demonstrating mastery.
What is the strongest predictor of use of new skills in a new setting?

a review of the setting in which instruction will take place.
Define the WHAT SHOULD BE as it pertains to the learning context analysis.
is the facilities, equipment and resources that adequately support the intended instruction.
What are the four areas of focus in the learning context analysis?
- The compatibility of the site with instructional requirements
- the adaptability of the site for simulating aspects of the workplace or performance site
- the adaptability of the site for using a variety of instructional strategies and training delivery approaches
- the constraints present that may affect eh design and delivery of instruction
What is the most common tool today?
a computer
What is the predominant method of corporate training? (Traditional method)
An instructor teaching 20-24 learners in a classroom.
What is the major purpose of the learning context analysis?
to identify available facilities and limitations
What is the major outputs of the learning context analysis?
- A description of the extent to which the site can be used to deliver training on skills that will be required for transfer to the workplace
- a list of any limitations that may have serious implications for the project
