Individuals that actively target elders for scams
Stages of dying
- denial, 2. anger, 3. bargaining, ex. asking for divine intervention, cutting a deal with God, 4. depression, sense of loss, loss of yourself, your vitality etc, 5. acceptance
- might not reach all of these stages
- focused on younger individuals with terminal illnesses, critiqued for maybe not applying to elders
Dying trajectory
We all approach death at different speeds and ways, ex sudden, slow
-3 phases: 1. acute phase, maximum anxiety, a lot of fear, 2. chronic stage, anxiety/fear declines as you face reality, 3. terminal phase, start to withdraw from others, protective mechanism
Task based approach
The daily activities of those who are in the dying process, making them as much of an enjoyment as they can be
Hospice
Home like care for those in need who are dying
